Springstead has been on the road for two straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Wiregrass Ranch Bulls at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Springstead put the finishing touches on their tenth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They put the hurt on Nature Coast Tech with a sharp 46-26 victory. Given Springstead's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Nature Coast Tech is ranked 322nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Malanie Francis, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 23 rebounds. Francis is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Addy Osborne, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Wiregrass Ranch waltzed into their match on Friday with five straight wins but they left with six. They strolled past Newsome with points to spare, taking the game 31-17.
Springstead's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3. As for Wiregrass Ranch, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season.
Springstead came up short against Wiregrass Ranch when the teams last played back in December of 2019, falling 43-39. Thankfully for Springstead, Sarah Schulze (who scored 12 points along with seven steals and five assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
