Basketball Recap: Kody Knecht Key Part of a Team Effort in Wildcats Win

There's no place like home for Lowpoint-Washburn, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They came out on top against the Putnam County Panthers by a score of 51-38 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Lowpoint-Washburn's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kody Knecht led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. What's more, Knecht also racked up six steals, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Evan Schumacher, who went 5 of 12 en route to 10 points along with eight boards and three steals.

Lowpoint-Washburn smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

The win got Lowpoint-Washburn back to even at 5-5. As for Putnam County, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Lowpoint-Washburn didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-51 victory against Polo on the 26th. As for Putnam County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 76-24 defeat against Lexington on the 26th.
