After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Palo Verde, Shadow Ridge was happy to have turned things around on Monday. Everything went their way against the Coronado Cougars as they made off with a 14-5 win. Considering the Mustangs have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Katelynn Quidato spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Shadow Ridge got a massive performance out of Chloe Covington, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most runs Covington has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Aleana Aionaaka, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Shadow Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coronado only posted an OBP of .303.
Shadow Ridge's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Coronado, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season.
