After flying high against the Crossland Cavaliers last Thursday, the Oxon Hill Clippers came back down to earth. Oxon Hill took a 54-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gwynn Park. Oxon Hill was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Gwynn Park apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Several Clippers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Damia Worthy, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Worthy is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Dashani Coleman was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Gwynn Park's win on Monday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nala Abraham, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Abraham also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Keira Mason, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Oxon Hill's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-4. As for Gwynn Park, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oxon Hill will take on Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North's defense has only allowed 25.9 points per game this season, so Oxon Hill's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Gwynn Park, they will be playing at home against Largo at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Largo's defense has only allowed 20.4 points per game this season, so Gwynn Park's offense will have their work cut out for them.
