IV Section IV recap October 22, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Cortez, who took down 144th ranked Coronado, 17-7.
Coolidge took down Chino Valley 54-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Brandon King was a key player and the best on defense this week as Seton Catholic topped Combs. The 5-foot-10 junior recorded 1 fumble.
Kyle Johnson threw for 239 yards and 5 touchdowns. He went 20-23 with 0 interceptions.
Ian Campos was the most successful running back in IV Section IV this week. In 17 carries, he ran for 174 yards as Florence bested Bisbee. Beau Griego also contributed to the rushing game with 37 yards on the ground.
Florence's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Gophers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Bobby Herrera has thrown for 1,626 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while Ramirez has 30 catches for 602 yards.
At the moment, the Colts are in fifth, while the Bears are in second.
Cortez made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,420 from 11,786. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 17-7 victory over the Dons last week.
