Basketball Recap: Green Tech's Loss Ends Nine-Game Winning Streak at Home

Green Tech was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 67-66 heartbreaker at the hands of the Rush-Henrietta Royal Comets. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while the Royal Comets are ranked eighth).

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ramere Brown, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine assists. Those nine assists gave Brown a new career-high. Indavier Barnes was another key player, going 5 for 12 on his way to 16 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Brown wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Green Tech was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rush-Henrietta only racked up 11 assists.

Rush-Henrietta was led to victory by Jalen Taggart and Avery Council. Taggart went 10 of 20 on his way to 31 points and eight boards, while Council went 9 of 15 on his way to 23 points and four steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Taggart has scored at least a third of Rush-Henrietta's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amir Abdul-Haqq, who posted nine points and five boards.

Green Tech's loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-5. As for Rush-Henrietta, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Green Tech will welcome Pine Bush at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Rush-Henrietta, they will venture away from home to face off against Fairport at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
