After a string of four wins, The Elida Tigers''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 43-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Animas. Elida was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Animas apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Kohan Evans was a one-man wrecking crew for Animas as he rushed for 152 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry, and also threw for 192 yards and two touchdowns. Evans was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. Tallon Marble was in the mix as well, providing Animas with two touchdowns.
Elida's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Animas, their victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 3-5.
Elida will take on Mountainair at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Mountainair's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last four contests. As for Animas, they will head out on the road to face off against Roy/Mosquero at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Roy/Mosquero is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
