Clio is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Thursday. They are taking a road trip to take on the Linden Eagles at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Clio 1, Linden 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Clio's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Owosso with a sharp 6-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won eight in a row.
The result came thanks to Addie Taylor's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Clio saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ashlyn LaFreniere, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run. Those two doubles gave LaFreniere a new career-high. Evey Wagner was another, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Linden earned a 7-3 victory over Brandon on Tuesday.
Tessa Zilisch (2027) made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Zilisch (2027) was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Macy Common (2029) was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lilly Ciesielski (2028), who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Linden hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brandon struck out nine times.
Clio's record now sits at 4-0. As for Linden, their record is now 10-2.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Clio hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .486. However, it's not like Linden struggles in that department as they've averaged .339. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Clio came out on top in a nail-biter against Linden in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
