St. Johns Country Day is 3-0 against Fletcher since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The St. Johns Country Day Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Fletcher Senators at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
St. Johns Country Day scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 90-19 win over Duval Charter at home. The victory was nothing new for St. Johns Country Day as they're now sitting on five straight.
It was another big night for Mary Kate Kent, who shot 5-for-14 from long range and dropped a double-double on 46 points and 16 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of St. Johns Country Day's points. Sophia Mejias was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, after only 15 points in their last contest, Fletcher made sure to put some points up on the board against Westside on Thursday. Fletcher really took it to Westside for the full four quarters, racking up a 58-31 victory at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Fletcher has posted since November 29, 2023.
Among those leading the charge was Mattie Gilliam, who scored 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brylee Rains, who scored nine points.
St. Johns Country Day pushed their record up to 16-4 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points per game. As for Fletcher, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season.
Keep an eye on the arc in Monday's match: St. Johns Country Day have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having averaged 9.6 threes per game. It's a different story for Fletcher, though, as they've been averaging only 3.2 threes per game. Given St. Johns Country Day's sizeable advantage in that area, Fletcher will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything came up roses for St. Johns Country Day against Fletcher in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 64-26 victory. Does St. Johns Country Day have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fletcher turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
