Even though the Mobile Christian Leopards have not done well against the Cottage Hill Christian Academy Warriors recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Mobile Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Cottage Hill Christian Academy and snuck past 66-63. The win was all the more spectacular given Mobile Christian's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 214th, while Cottage Hill Christian Academy is ranked 87th).
Mobile Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Michael MJ Moore led the charge by scoring 18 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Rico Prince jr., who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Mobile Christian's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-8. As for Cottage Hill Christian Academy, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-8.
Mobile Christian will take on Saraland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Saraland is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Cottage Hill Christian Academy, Cottage Hill Christian Academy and Flomaton will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
