Calvert is 2-8 against Huntingtown since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Calvert Cavaliers will be playing at home against the Huntingtown Hurricanes at 6:30 p.m. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Calvert and five for Huntingtown.
Last Wednesday, Calvert came up short against North Point and fell 60-51. Calvert has not had much luck with North Point recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Meanwhile, Huntingtown pushed their score all the way to 56 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 60-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Thomas Stone. While losing is never fun, Huntingtown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while Thomas Stone is ranked 84th).
Calvert's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-12. As for Huntingtown, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.
Calvert was dealt a bruising 69-33 loss at the hands of Huntingtown in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Huntingtown's Amari Smith, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Now that Calvert knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
