The Natrona County Mustangs lost against the Douglas Bearcats back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Natrona County took a serious blow against Douglas, falling 72-41. While losing is never fun, Natrona County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wyoming basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Douglas is ranked first).
Leading Douglas to victory were Bailey Wright and Lauren Olsen. Wright scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Olsen scored 26 points along with seven assists. The contest was Olsen's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jill Fertig, who scored ten points.
Natrona County has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Douglas, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Natrona County and Cody will face off at 5:00 p.m. on January 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Cody will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. As for Douglas, they will be playing at home against Buffalo at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Buffalo is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
