The Mountain View Bruins posted their closest win yet this season on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Payson and snuck past 55-53. For Mountain View, this counts as revenge for the 80-49 loss Payson walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2019.
Mountain View's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Coleman Pearson, who scored 17 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Pearson grabbed two or more steals. Hunter Kaopua was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joseph Wolfe, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Kamika Wesley, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Mountain View has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Payson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain View will challenge Provo at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Provo focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday. As for Payson, they will head out on the road to challenge Uintah at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Uintah is ranked 81st, while Payson is ranked 74th).
