Football Recap: Southeast Career Tech Falls Short Against Ranked Palo Verde

On Wednesday, Southeast Career Tech faced Palo Verde in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners fell 22-15 to the Palo Verde Panthers. The Roadrunners haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Despite the loss, Southeast Career Tech still got an impressive performance from Leyla Randolph, who rushed for 48 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 267 yards on 20 of 29 attempts. That's the most passing yards Randolph has posted since back in December of 2023. A healthy portion of Randolph's aerial production (100 yards to be exact) went to Jayla Elfberg.

Southeast Career Tech didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Aysia Suyat and Randolph.

Samantha Manzo continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Palo Verde, rushing for 168 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry.

Southeast Career Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Palo Verde, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 17-1.

Southeast Career Tech wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 13-12 win against Basic on the 24th. Palo Verde has also already played their next contest, a 32-0 victory against Shadow Ridge on the 27th.
