Basketball Recap: Clarke County Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Tanner Sipe and Lincoln Booker

It was a Battle of the Birds when Clarke County challenged Central Woodstock on Friday. The Clarke County Eagles came up short against the Central Woodstock Falcons, falling 72-48. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while the Falcons are ranked 81st).

Despite the defeat, Clarke County had strong showings from Lincoln Booker, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 17 points, and Tanner Sipe, who went 7 for 13 en route to 16 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Booker a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Wilson Taylor, who posted eight points.

Clarke County's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Central Woodstock, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-2.

Clarke County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 43-34 defeat against Strasburg on the 28th. Central Woodstock has also already played their next contest, a 61-41 win against Page County on the 27th.
