The Vandegrift Vipers will challenge the Round Rock Dragons at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Vandegrift comes in on five and Round Rock on ten.
On Tuesday, Vandegrift made easy work of McNeil and carried off a 3-0 win.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Vandegrift was: they took every set by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-5, 25-12, 25-15.
Siri Krishna was a one-woman wrecking crew as she had nine aces and eight digs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (two).
They weren't the only good servers: Vandegrift was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. They are 9-1 when they serve at least ten aces.
Meanwhile, Round Rock got the win against Manor on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Round Rock took every set by at least 12 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-13, 25-10.
Vandegrift better focus on containing Isa Cordaway-Dreier and Nila Beauchamp as the pair were huge in Round Rock's win. Cordaway-Dreier had six digs and six aces, while Beauchamp had ten digs and two aces. Beauchamp has been hot for a while, having also posted 12 or more assists the last 16 times she's played. Lizzy Mikaberidze also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.
Vandegrift now has a winning record of 19-18. As for Round Rock, their victory bumped their record up to 31-8.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Vandegrift has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 7.5 aces per game. However, it's not like Round Rock struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.4 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
