Even though the Livingston Wolves scored an imposing 63 points on Saturday, the Kimball Jaguars still came out on top. Kimball snuck past Livingston with a 69-63 victory. Given Kimball's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 540th, while Livingston is ranked 1155th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kimball found their leader in underclassman Tristen DeBenedetti, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds. DeBenedetti also scored 15+ points for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tobe Nwankwo, who scored eight points.
Several Wolves players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jayshaan Bains, who scored 19 points. Bains set a new season high mark in points with 19. Another player making a difference was Imanol Gutierrez, who scored 18 points.
Kimball's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Livingston, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
Kimball will be playing in front of their home fans against Bear Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Livingston will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Pacheco at 7:00 p.m. on December 13th.
