On Monday, Archbishop Spalding didn't have too much trouble with DC International at home as they won 43-27. The victory was all the more spectacular given Archbishop Spalding's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 69th in Maryland, while DC International is ranked 14th in District of Columbia).
Leading Archbishop Spalding to victory were Whitley Watkins and Ryanne Clark. Watkins scored eight points along with ten rebounds, while Clark scored ten points along with seven rebounds. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Eden Berry was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with ten rebounds.
Kai Davis and Karter Kundera certainly did their best on Monday to try and avoid the loss. Davis scored 11 points along with seven rebounds, while Kundera scored four points.
Archbishop Spalding's victory ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-3. As for DC International, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Archbishop Spalding will take on Our Lady of Mount Carmel at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Our Lady of Mount Carmel focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Saturday. As for DC International, they will be playing in front of their home fans against National Cathedral at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
