The Lincoln Abes will head out on the road to challenge the Spanaway Lake Sentinels at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Lincoln's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
On Wednesday, Lincoln was able to grind out a solid win over the Lancers, taking the game 62-51. Given Lincoln's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while the Lancers are ranked 119th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Spanaway Lake's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell to Lakes 68-62. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the defeat, Spanaway Lake saw an underclassman step up: Darius Alexander scored 18 points along with four steals.
Lincoln pushed their record up to 16-3 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home. As for Spanaway Lake, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.
Lincoln strolled past the Sentinels when the teams last played back in January by a score of 65-50. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Alexander, who scored 11 points along with four steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Lincoln still be able to contain Alexander? There's only one way to find out.
