It was a good run, but Burke Catholic unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 37-19 bruising from Haldane. Burke Catholic lost against Haldane in their previous head to head on Friday, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 37-19 score last time.
Despite the loss, Burke Catholic still got an impressive performance from Liam Benzinger, who rushed for 68 yards and two touchdowns.
Haldane was led to victory by Ryan Van Tassel and Evan Giachinta. Van Tassel rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, while Giachinta rushed for 148 yards and three touchdowns. Van Tassel was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 62 yards. Brody Corless did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 98 receiving yards.
Burke Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Haldane, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
