The biggest upset of the week belonged to Sonora, who took down 350th ranked Sonora, 43-26. Evan Owens ran for 162 yards and caught three passes for 38 yards in the win.
Zack Johnson of Kimball ran for the longest rushing play in Valley Oak this season against the Wildcats last week. Johnson's team defeated Sonora as he sprinted for 106 yards on the play and finished with 45 in all.
Bryson Sanders was the best wideout in the league this week as Sierra bested Manteca. Sanders tallied three receptions for 68 yards. Dakota Conners helped Sierra's passing attack out by catching five balls for 61 yards.
Johnson put up the best numbers through the air as Kimball beat Bryan Craig's team. He finished with a total of nine completions for 144 yards and one touchdown. Johnson's favorite target this week was Charles Walker, who caught two passes for 48 yards.
Sal Pena made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Buffaloes lost to the Timberwolves. The 5-foot-9 senior recorded one fumble.
Anthony Cota was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 228 yards as Sierra defeated Manteca. Jordan Lewis also contributed to the rushing game with eight yards on the ground.
Thanks to the talents of Jake Pruitt and Cota Jeff Harbison's team has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Pruitt leads the league in passing with 528 yards, while Cota has rushed for 886 yards this season. Eric Reis' team's TJ Galdos leads the league in receiving yards with 321 on 25 catches.
A big matchup in Valley Oak this week will be when the Timberwolves take on Steve Anastasio's team. Sierra is in first place, while the Jaguars are in sixth place.
Weston Ranch was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. The Cougars defeated East Union 12-7 earlier in the week.
