Basketball Recap: Colleton Prep Academy Takes a Loss

Colleton Prep Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 62-48 to the Orangeburg Prep Indians. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the War Hawks of the 75-50 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Colleton Prep Academy lost, don't look at Mateo Castillo. Despite the final result, he posted 31 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Walker, who put up six points.

Even though they lost, Colleton Prep Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Tilden Riley continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Orangeburg Prep, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 19 boards. The dominant performance gave Riley a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Avery Ravenell, who had eight points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Colleton Prep Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Orangeburg Prep, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.

Colleton Prep Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 51-49 victory against Jefferson Davis Academy on the 7th. As for Orangeburg Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-58 win against Greenwood Christian on the 9th.
