Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Plains proved: they limited Smyer to a paltry 3.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Owen Youngblood for the heroic effort on defense: he. Plains' run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.55 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 4.03 on average over their last three games.
Plains didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ward and Brady Robles. Robles is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last five games he's played.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Friday. Ropes breezed past Seagraves to the tune of 51-21. Considering Ropes has won eight matchups by more than 29 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Ropes' win came from a few key players Plains will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ryland Kieth, who rushed for 76 yards and one score on only ten carries, and also caught one touchdown. Another player making a difference was Kade Franklin, who threw for 161 yards and three TDs.
Ropes' defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. Tucker Corn was especially locked on to Seagraves' QB and sacked him twice. Ropes got some further help from Kolter Dockery: he made 15 total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defended one pass in addition to snagging an interception.
Plains' victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-6. As for Ropes, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
