The Westminster Academy Lions will venture away from home to take on the American Heritage Stallions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Westminster Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Cambridge Christian, taking the game 28-21.
Chance Humphrey continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 381 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.7 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 92 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 308.2 passing yards per game. Dj Gaines was Humphrey's top target, picking up 164 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, American Heritage took their matchup at home two weeks ago with ease, bagging a 42-7 victory over North Broward Prep. With the Stallions ahead 35-7 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Jaden Desir and Mason Kasten were among the main playmakers for American Heritage as the former rushed for 148 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries and the latter threw for 138 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. Desir really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run.
American Heritage's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Desir and Trey Pisciotto. The dominant performance gave Desir a new career-high in rushing yards.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, American Heritage was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 245 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Westminster Academy's record now sits at 3-1. As for American Heritage, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-1.
Westminster Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over American Heritage in their previous matchup back in September of 2023, winning 24-17.
