The Peshtigo Bulldogs will take on the Coleman Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Peshtigo will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Peshtigo's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They came out on top against Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran by a score of 4-0.
Not much got past Lainey Weddel, who gave up just five hits to keep Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran off the board.
On the hitting side, Nevaeh Russell was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Cameron Finger, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Coleman sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over Crivitz on Thursday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Wolverines recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Makenzie Nowak was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Nowak was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Nowak wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Annabell Markiewicz, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Montana Fonder was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Coleman pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Peshtigo, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
Peshtigo skirted past Coleman 2-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
