Roxboro Community has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. Having just played yesterday, they will get right back to it and host the Oxford Prep Griffins at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Roxboro Community will be strutting in after a win while Oxford Prep will be coming in after a loss.
On Thursday, Roxboro Community beat Eno River 41-29.
Roxboro Community relied on the efforts of Karrie Obie, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Katherine-kaey "katie" Mann, who scored 16 points along with three steals. Mann hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was Kaylyn Pope, who scored four points.
Oxford Prep suffered their biggest loss since November 15, 2023 on Wednesday. They were dealt a 61-32 defeat at the hands of Vance Charter. While losing is never fun, Oxford Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 486th, while Vance Charter is ranked 189th).
Roxboro Community's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Oxford Prep, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.
Roxboro Community took their victory against Oxford Prep when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 61-40. Does Roxboro Community have another victory up their sleeve, or will Oxford Prep turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
