Baseball Recap: Tuckahoe Wins Going Away Against Valhalla

Tuckahoe lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Valhalla, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's contest. The Tigers put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 10-1 victory on Saturday. Considering the Tigers have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Connor Brice made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

In other batting news, Tuckahoe let Jay Romeo and Ben Silvestri run wild. Romeo went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Silvestri went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Silvestri is becoming a predictor of Tuckahoe's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Tyler Pian, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Tuckahoe hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive games.

Tuckahoe's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Valhalla, they moved to 5-4 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Tuckahoe wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-1 defeat against Dobbs Ferry on the 12th. As for Valhalla, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 9-3 win against Blind Brook on the 12th.
