Baseball Recap: Smithfield Drops Season-High Score on Bruton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Smithfield). They were the clear victors by a 19-4 margin over the Bruton Panthers on Wednesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Packers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Nick Gaspar, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and four RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Walton Bondurant, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Smithfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Smithfield's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Bruton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-10.
