Baseball Game Preview: Tolleson Wolverines vs. Valley Vista Monsoon

For the second straight game, Tolleson will face off against Valley Vista. The Wolverines will face off against the Monsoon at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Tolleson and Valley Vista, and Tolleson kept the tradition alive. The Wolverines walked away with a 5-2 win over the Monsoon on Monday.

Tolleson let JOSE CORRALES and AMARI LUCAS run wild. CORRALES scored a run while going 3-for-3, while LUCAS scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three hits gave CORRALES a new career-high. FEDERICO IBARRA also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Tolleson has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-9-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games. As for Valley Vista, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-12.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Tolleson has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Valley Vista struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
