6A District 6 recap Nov. 7, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Springstead, who took down 110th ranked Springstead, 14-7. Matthew Breida ran for 121 yards in the win.
Nature Coast Tech moved up to 213 from 243 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 6A District 6. The Sharks climbed the ranks as a result of besting the Eagles 14-7.
Jonathan Thomas was the best wideout in the league this week as Nature Coast Tech topped Springstead. Thomas racked up five receptions for 64 yards. Rohan Blackwood helped Nature Coast Tech's passing attack out by catching one ball for 14 yards.
Tyler Mahla provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Bill Vonada's team lost to Charles Liggett's team. He completed eight passes for 113 yards and also ran for 105 yards. Mahla's favorite target this week was Tyler Anderson, who caught two passes for 41 yards.
Josh Maisel put up the best numbers through the air as River Ridge fell to Land O'Lakes. He had a total of 15 completions for 177 yards. Maisel's favorite target this week was Chris Aldrich, who caught four passes for 57 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Maisel of the Knights /Royal is the league leader in passing yards this season with 908. He has also thrown seven touchdowns. On the ground, the Sharks' Breida has rushed for 1399 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Thomas. The Nature Coast Tech star has 26 catches for 359 yards.
Sunlake took down Central 63-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Eddie Burgos ran for 90 yards and caught one passes for 40 yards in the win.
