They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 87-66 walloping at the hands of Choctaw Central. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Leake Central in their matchups with Choctaw Central: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Leake Central saw an underclassman step up: Ty'lan Fortune scored 21 points.
Jayce Sam went supernova for Choctaw Central, going 10 for 14 from beyond the arc en route to 33 points and 0 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sam has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Clemons Zylier, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds.
Leake Central has not been sharp recently as the team has lost nine of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Choctaw Central, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-5.
Leake Central and Leake County will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Leake County is coming into the matchup with six straight wins at home, so Leake Central is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Choctaw Central, they will face off against Leake Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Choctaw Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 matches -- so hopefully Leake Central likes a good challenge.
