The Union Star Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by Rock Port 54-18. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Union Star in their matchups with Rock Port: they've now lost seven in a row.
It was another big night for Cade Makings, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and five steals for Rock Port. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Corbyn Jakub, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Union Star bumped their record down to 1-10 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Rock Port, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Union Star will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mound City/Craig at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Rock Port will be home for the holidays to greet North Nodaway at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Missouri (North Nodaway is ranked 217th, while Rock Port is ranked 196th).
