Clermont Northeastern will venture away from home to take on Archbishop McNicholas at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Clermont Northeastern's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Dayton Christian with a sharp 14-0 win.
Jenna Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Brown was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Addisyn Baker was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Avery Moell, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Archbishop McNicholas was able to grind out a solid victory over Roger Bacon on Wednesday, taking the game 7-2. The Rockets haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Like Clermont Northeastern, Archbishop McNicholas also got a great game from a two-way player: Natalie Jones. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Jones was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lucy Laudeman, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Kennedy Dehner was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four RBI.
Archbishop McNicholas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Roger Bacon only managed four hits.
The victory got Clermont Northeastern back to even at 1-1. As for Archbishop McNicholas, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.
Clermont Northeastern was able to grind out a solid victory over Archbishop McNicholas in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, winning 10-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clermont Northeastern since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
