Softball Recap: Olentangy Liberty Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

Olentangy Liberty barely beat Dublin Jerome the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Patriots' pitchers stepped up to hand the Celtics an 11-0 shutout on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Kailey McGinnis made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Izzy Matteo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Rylen Depaul, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Olentangy Liberty's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Dublin Jerome, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Coming up, Olentangy Liberty will host Bishop Watterson at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Dublin Jerome, they will head out to challenge Upper Arlington at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Bears will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Celtics surely won't give up without a fight.
