The biggest upset of the week belonged to Whittier, who took down 511th ranked Whittier, 15-0. Christian Lara threw for 132 yards and ran for 165 yards in the win.
California extended the longest winning streak in Del Rio this week by beating El Rancho, 42-23. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
The Dons' dynamic duo of JOE SANCHEZ and JOHNNY GARCIA proved tough for California to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. SANCHEZ threw for 406 yards and three touchdowns and GARCIA had 113 yards receiving. ANDREW CHANDLER helped El Rancho's passing attack out by catching five balls for 108 yards.
El Rancho's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Dons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. SANCHEZ has thrown for 1144 yards and six touchdowns this season, while JAVIER CARILLO has 31 catches for 437 yards. SANCHEZ also leads the league in rushing with 810 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Cardinals take on La Serna. As it stands, Whittier is in third, while the Lancers are in second.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Visko Ancich's team takes on La Serna. The Cardinals have allowed 92 points this season, while Margarito Beltran's team has given up 101. Whittier allowed 15 points last week as it lost to Santa Fe.
The Chiefs moved up to 458 from 561 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Del Rio. Santa Fe was able to make the jump by beating the Cardinals 15-0.
