The McLaughlin Mustangs were the 77-45 winner over the Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Braves when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. McLaughlin was dealt a 66-36 loss at the hands of Cheyenne-Eagle Butte on Tuesday. McLaughlin has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Cheyenne-Eagle Butte found their leader in underclassman Dayson Kennedy, who scored 26 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kennedy has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Damien Clown, who scored nine points.
McLaughlin's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-4. As for Cheyenne-Eagle Butte, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.
McLaughlin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 65-47 loss vs. Winner on the 9th. Cheyenne-Eagle Butte has also already played their next match, a 85-53 win against Wakpala on the 10th.
