Christopher has gone a perfect 4-0 against Del Mar recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Cougars will head out to square off against the Dons at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Christopher has three straight victories, Del Mar has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Christopher is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Evergreen Valley with a sharp 17-0 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for Christopher, who have now won 11 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Audrina Cabanlit and Katelyn Vega made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Cabanlit tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Vega tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. At bat, Cabanlit got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI, while Vega got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs. Those two runs gave Vega a new career-high.
In other batting news, Christopher got a massive performance out of Bella Loredo, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Loredo has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Sophia McGhie, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Christopher always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .732. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Del Mar lost 20-2 to Piedmont Hills on Tuesday.
Christopher's record now sits at 14-7. As for Del Mar, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-21.
Everything went Christopher's way against Del Mar when the teams last played back in March, as Christopher made off with a 15-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
