5A Region 4 recap December 3, 2013
Picayune added to the longest winning streak in 5A Region 4 this week by beating Laurel, 35-28. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Maroon Tide.
Picayune led the league in scoring this week by notching 35 points on the Golden Tornadoes. Preston Dedeaux ran for 150 yards during the win.
Dodd Lee's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Dedeaux chipped in 150 yards.
Dedeaux provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Maroon Tide defeated Laurel.
Kadarius Cross was the best wideout in the league this week as Picayune topped Todd Breland's team. Cross racked up 1 reception for 11 yards.
Leading 5A Region 4 in both passing and receiving yards, Pascagoula's Andrew Dunn and Matthew Eaton have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-5 quarterback Dunn has thrown for 1,647 yards this season, while Eaton has 44 catches for 745 yards. The Maroon Tide's Dedeaux leads the league in rushing yards with 1,851.
Picayune's Deandre Anderson needs only 44 yards against Oxford next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 120 carries Anderson has accumulated 956 yard this year.
The Maroon Tide led the league in points allowed with 28.
