Goodrich has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against The Williamston Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Goodrich blew past Linden, posting a 42-7 win at home. The result was nothing new for Goodrich, who have now won four matchups by 35 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Goodrich to victory, but perhaps none more so than Max Macklem, who picked up 147 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Macklem was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 65 yards. Easton Phipps got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Williamston had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 33-17 victory over Sparta. Given Williamston's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 100th, while Sparta is ranked 211th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Goodrich's victory was their 11th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-1. They've been dominating across those matches too: they took their wins by an average of 31 points. Williamston is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Goodrich came up short against Williamston when the teams last played back in October of 2018, falling 35-28. Can Goodrich avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
