The White Station Spartans struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Whitehaven Tigers had 14 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. White Station was beaten by the Tigers 60-27. White Station has not had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the loss, White Station saw an underclassman step up: Zamiya Riley dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds. Riley continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Whitehaven had a senior duo take command as Tierney Kelsey scored 22 points along with five steals and Layla Hampton scored 11 points along with eight assists and five steals. Hampton hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. La'niyah Moore was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
White Station's loss dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Whitehaven, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.
White Station will be playing at home against the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Memphis Central has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Whitehaven's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on February 1st. Hopefully Overton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Tuesday.
