The Gorton Wolves will venture away from home to face off against the Spring Valley Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Gorton will be strutting in after a victory while Spring Valley will be coming in after a defeat.
On Wednesday, Gorton got the win against Greenburgh-North Castle by a conclusive 3-0.
One reason for the win was Gorton's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-9, 25-8.

Gorton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Katie Rojas, who had eight kills and six aces. Rojas has been hot for a while, having posted three or more aces the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ny'Asia Carcamo, who had nine assists and eight aces.
They weren't the only good servers: Gorton was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 34 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 15 aces in eight consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Spring Valley came up short against Barack Obama School for Social Justice on Saturday, falling 3-0.
Spring Valley took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-13, 25-15.
Spring Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Gorton, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Gorton took their win against Spring Valley in their previous meeting last Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
