McLane extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping them up to 12-10-1. They skirted past the Hoover Patriots 8-6. For the Highlanders, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 victory the Patriots walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2025.
Andrew Garcia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because McLane is 3-0-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-10 otherwise. Garcia was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.
In other pitching news, Gio Morales tossed a big game, tossing 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits.
Back at the plate, Francisco Aleman was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Silva, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
As for Hoover, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-20. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since March 8, 2025.
On Hoover's side, Sebastian Perez made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Kam AcFalle was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McLane will venture away from home to take on Madera South at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hoover, they will head out to challenge Edison at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Patriots will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
