The Peoria Panthers have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 56-45 to Deer Valley on Friday. If Peoria hoped to take revenge for the 35-30 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Despite the loss, Peoria had strong showings from Michelle Kogbara, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds, and Cieraka Lynch, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Kogbara hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games.
Peoria's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Deer Valley, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 13-6.
Peoria and Cactus will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Cactus is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Deer Valley, they will head out on the road to take on Estrella Foothills at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Estrella Foothills' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.
