Monocacy Valley - Antietam recap Nov. 7, 2012
North Hagerstown extended the longest winning streak in Monocacy Valley - Antietam this week by beating South Hagerstown, 14-12. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
North Hagerstown was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting the Rebels. Danny Cunningham's team came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 32 last week.
The Hubs' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Nick Karlen threw for 31 and one touchdown and Gabe Fridgen had 18 yards receiving. On the ground Isaiah Keyes chipped in 126 yards. Tre Anderson helped North Hagerstown's passing attack out by catching one ball for seven yards.
North Hagerstown's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Hubs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Karlen has thrown for 913 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, while Anderson has 23 catches for 481 yards. Keyes leads the league in rushing with 1057 yards.
North Hagerstown's Kyle Hewlett needs only 83 yards against Seneca Valley next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 116 carries Hewlett has accumulated 917 yard this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Boonsboro takes on Brunswick. The Warriors are in third place, while the Railroaders are in fourth place.
The Hubs and South Hagerstown played the most hotly contested game in Monocacy Valley - Antietam this week, with the Hubs eventually emerging with a 14-12 victory. Keyes in the win.
