The power rankings have been shaken up after a frantic week teeming with triumph and disappointment. Among the action were the efforts of Somerville's senior Jalahn Dabney, an offensive menace who scored seven total TDs.
Welcome
Fairfield Prep was heavily favored to win coming into its game last week, and the results showcase why. It put the hurt on Hamden with a conclusive 35 - 0 victory. At 35 points, that marked Fairfield Prep's largest margin of victory so far this year. The win also thrust it into the power rankings, where the team now holds the 17th spot.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between St. Joseph Regional (3rd in the power rankings) and St. Peter's Prep (5th). St. Joseph Regional took its game by a score of 16 - 7. Even if it didn't bump it up the rankings, the win at least kept the team from dropping.
No Stoppin 'Em
There were a lot of high-scoring contests in the power rankings last week, but the 85-point effort in this one put it right at the top of the list. Somerville took its contest against Delaware Valley by a conclusive 58 - 27 score. Hopefully the win is satisfying enough on its own since Somerville actually slipped four places in the power rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Staples (18th in the power rankings) and St. Joseph (6th). This will be the second consecutive road game for St. Joseph. It and Staples can't both win again this week, so we'll learn on Friday which team falters and which extends its success.
