The Powers Lake Ranchers kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell to Westhope/Newburg 48-43.
Westhope/Newburg's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Macy Bryans, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 steals. Another player making a difference was Kimberly Tabarez, who scored 13 points along with 9 steals and 5 assists.
Powers Lake's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Westhope/Newburg, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Powers Lake does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Westhope/Newburg will head out on the road to face off against Trinity at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
