The Seton Catholic Sentinels will be taking part in a tournament against the McClintock Chargers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Seton Catholic had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Dobson on Thursday. Seton Catholic blew past Dobson 22-6. The Sentinels have beaten the Mustangs the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Mustangs has come to flipping the script.
Max Peterson looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.

At the plate, Jax Minnis was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Tialoc Del Rosario was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Seton Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .718. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dobson only posted an OBP of .417.
Meanwhile, McClintock hadn't done well against Apache Junction recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. McClintock narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Apache Junction 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Chargers have posted since March 29, 2024.
McClintock also got a great performance from Dallon Schmidt as he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk).
On the hitting side, McClintock saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Nemecek, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Seton Catholic's record is now 2-0. As for McClintock, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Seton Catholic was able to grind out a solid victory over McClintock when the teams last played back in February of 2020, winning 4-0. Does Seton Catholic have another victory up their sleeve, or will McClintock turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
