Basketball Recap: Charlie Bonds and Bennett Nicholson Secure Win for Richard Winn Academy

On Saturday, everything went the Richard Winn Academy Eagles's way against the Thornwell Saints as the Richard Winn Academy Eagles made off with a 70-48 win. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 22 points or more this season.

Leading Richard Winn Academy to victory were Bennett Nicholson and Charlie Bonds. Nicholson went 9 of 12 en route to 23 points along with eight assists and seven boards, while Bonds dropped a double-double on 20 points and 18 boards. The dominant performance gave Bonds a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Smith, who posted eight points and ten rebounds.

Richard Winn Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in nine consecutive games.

Richard Winn Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Thornwell, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-6.
