The New Canaan Rams lost against the Staples Wreckers back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. New Canaan took a 53-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Staples. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points New Canaan has scored all season.
Staples found their leader in underclassman Sam Clachko, who scored 22 points along with five assists and five rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Clachko has scored at least 25% of Staples' points. Another player making a difference was Mason Tobias, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and five steals.
This is the second loss in a row for New Canaan and nudges their season record down to 3-3. As for Staples, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
New Canaan will challenge Norwalk at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Norwalk knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully New Canaan likes a good challenge. As for Staples, they will be playing at home against McMahon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. McMahon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Connecticut Rankings (they are ranked 147th, while Staples is ranked 13th).
