Section 3 Class AA 2 recap October 8, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in Section 3 Class AA 2 this week, Fayetteville-Manlius beat Rome Free Academy 70-39. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Hornets.
Proctor fell to Liverpool 41-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. J'von Evans ran for 241 yards in the loss.
Evans was a force in the backfield as Proctor fell to the Warriors.
Angus Evans threw for 310 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 17-36 with 1 interception.
Evans put up the best numbers in passing as the Black Knights fell to Fayetteville-Manlius. Evans' favorite target this week was Josh Reed, who caught 3 passes for 82 yards.
Rome Free Academy's Evans and Reed led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-5 quarterback Evans has thrown for 1,092 yards this season, while Reed has 19 catches for 366 yards. Jerry Fiorini's team's Evans leads the league in rushing yards with 958.
Baker's Ricky Sparks needs only 46 yards against Liverpool next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 148 carries Sparks has put up 954 yards this year.
The Bees' offense has scored 163 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while David Mancuso's team has allowed only 94 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Baker takes on the Warriors. As it stands, Carl Sanfilippo's team is in second, while Liverpool is in third.
The Bees made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,244 from 2,424. The advance stemmed from a 35-15 victory over Auburn last week.
